Fringe

My attempt to rock the fringe style didn't show up as good as I wanted. Although the shades became weird on my face, my sensitive eyes needed them!!

Note: jean shorts are a better option (on way to get myself a pair)

Waves to perfect life

Coral Summer

It’s summer calling and there’s no other greater response than a nice vacation on the beach and boosting your fashionista spirits with hot garments.

Beach beauty tips:
1.      Suncreen – protects my skin from UV rays and getting burned. I want a healthy summer and healthy skin.
2.      Hydration – my skin and water in your body will be dried up by the hot weather.. I always try to stay hydrated by drinking a great amount of water. In addition, mineral water facial spray and masks are nice options.

Beach fashion tips:
Sunglasses, Hats: Long skirts/dresses: You can’t go wrong with these essentials when heading to beaches. These not only make you stay on trend but also offer an overall protection. Stylish and protected: that’s what we all want.

Parents' Don'ts & The Facts

"Don't do this, don't do that!!"

Have you ever been curious about some rules and advices that parents gave you as a child? Are they true or false? I have and I made a small research on them. Today, I decided to show you my top five parents’ health notions and facts:
1/ DON’T Drink water while eating         FALSE
Reasons:
  • Almost 100% food on Earth contains water, which means you absorb it every meals and nothing is harmful.
  • Water softens food to prepare for the grinding system in your stomach (especially with some hard, dry kinds of food)
There are more “scientific” reasons on the Internet but those two are the biggest and easiest to understand ones.

Tip: Drink warm water, little by little will help your digestion more.
2/ DON’T Talk too much while eating     TRUE
This is actually a popular habit of some people that causes a large amount of air in your stomach (Aerophagia). It happens when you chew gums, smoke, eat too fast or talk while eating. Digestion problems, belly bloating, stomach ache, belching are some consequences you’ll get. So, beware!!

Eating while driving: DANGEROUS!!!

3/ DON’T Have meal in front of TV         TRUE
Not only TV, we sometimes read books, magazines in our mealtime, which will cause some serious problems. Initially, your brains are distracted and work less effectively on the disgestion. Then, you’ll lose the awareness of how much food you actually need. In fact, there is a research that overweight children tend to have their meals in front of TVs more. This is a big NO in diets people, keep focus on your mealsl!!
4/ DON’T Take bath or shower right after eating     TRUE
I never believed this everytime my parents told me. “Urg, why on Earth taking shower is harmful??”. But now, I have to retract my words. The explanation on some documents is kinda complicated but I’m gonna make it short:
Digestion needs good blood flow and heats up our bodies while operating. However, when we take shower right after eating, our blood flow will be driven to different ways to warm up or cool down the body temperature (depends on which cold or hot bath/shower you’re taking), which hinders the digesting process and messes everything up. => Stomach ache, faint or even heart attack. Be careful!
Tip: Wait for about 30 minutes after eating, and then take shower.

5/ DON’T lie on bed and read      TRUE
Obviously, when you lie on bed, the lighting is not enough for your eyes. Beside, the distance between the book and your eyes is too close, which requires your eyes to focus more and end up getting tired too soon. This is an unhealthy but enjoyable habit for us but our eyes are the most precious features, you need to control yourself.
Whoosh!! Just a top five list but you can see that 4/5 of them are true. Being independant is necessary but you need to be wise when some people give advises because some of them are extremely crucial.

Yacht!!!

My outfit on Asos Fashion Finder - click here to go details

Colorblocking is a big big trend from spring to summer now (and surprisingly even to fall). Above is my outfit that I created about weeks ago on Asos.com and I think it had turned out to be soooo cute!! (do you guys think so??). This is perfect for yacht parties or just beach holidays. Despite being a big colorblocking’s fan, I’m honestly not a guru in this category. I’m giving you this topic because I’m so excited to show you my work.

Due to the high prices and low stock avaibility, I searched some items for you guys to rock the look:

Tops:
Shorts
Handbag (I’ve found two super cute from Target):
Boat shoes - seems like Sperry-Top Sider is the best brands for boat shoes out there, especially with this bright yellow color but you can get them at a lower price on some US sites:
Jewelry
Hat:

Asos is one of my favorite online stores ever, not just because of their free shipping worldwide service but also their big fashion community. It’s so much fun. Are you an Asos member? Add me as friends!!

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils - Swatches and Reviews

A while ago, MAC released a limited range of big mechanic eye pencils called shadestick and brought back a few times in their recent collections. Shadesticks are color eye pencils that you use as eyeshadows alone for as bases to give more following vibrant colors. I remember that I wanted them so bad because I have the same problem with color pay-off on my eyes, especially with the more colorful ones. However, not until I reached my hands on them, there were some negative reviews on the products, mainly on the pigmentation.
Right away, I read some reccomendations beside the reviews to NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils as dupes. I know they are famous items and it’s boring to review them again but whatever, get started:

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil
Retail Price: $4.50 (at http://www.nyxcosmetics.com), super affordable.
Color range: 28 shades
Ingredients: Bees Wax, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba)wax, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla)wax, Ceresin, Microcrystalline Wax, Polyethylene, Octyldodeanol, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Isostearyl Isostearate, Isononyl Isononanoate, Tocopheryl Acetate, B.H.A., Isopropylparaben, Isobutylparaben, Butylparaben. MAY CONTAIN: Mica (CI77019), Titanium Dioxide (CI77891), Iron Oxide Red (CI77491), Iron Oxide Yellow (CI77492), Carmine (CI75470), Chromium Oxide Green (CI77288), Ultramarine Blue (CI77007), Ferric Ferrocyanid (CI77510), FD&C Blue No.1 Aluminum Lake (CI42090), D&C Red No.6 (CI15850), D&C Red No.7 Ca Lake (CI15850), D&C Red No.27 Al Lack (CI45410:1).
(Yes, they have parabens here)

Shades that I have:
  • Black Bean: a basic pigmented black, even when blended out.
  • Milk: a creamy white with no yellow undertone, a must-have multi-purpose item for my everyday makeup.
  • Pots and pans: a metallic silver with little shimmers. This shade is beautiful but your need a good primer underneath to keep them pigmented when blend out.
Overview: They are extremely pigmented. I was totally knocked out in the first application. Look at my first picture, the pigmentation is more than those crayons', seriously, but surely much creamier. On the other side, they do crease, so you have to get a good primer (who doesn’t?).
Yes or No? YES YES YES. If you are a makeup junkie, you need them. They complete the look for my high pigmentation request. I can’t wait to get some more interesting colors in their wide range of choices.
Score: A (less creasing would be a plus)
Bonus: They are big pencils and you have to get their sharpener to fit but I’ve seen some tutorials on Youtube showed you how to depot them. If you hate mess and wastefulness, head to Youtube now but I never dare to play with fire haha (literally).

It’s the most crowded season of the year right now everybody, so we think it’s a good time to open our new page: Alex&Pris’s blog.
